Thinking of the text for Research Paper...
I still don’t know what kind of text that I want to work on for my research paper. According to my lecturer, it can be any kind of form – short stories, poems, novels, dramas or songs. Songs can be interesting to work on but I’m more familiar with short stories due to my better understanding on it. Furthermore, it’s my favourite compared to the other literary works. If I choose to do on poems, I have to deal with problems such as my interpretation will be wrong! Oh no…so I decide to choose short stories. But which short stories should I choose? Don’t forget that it must have the implications for education/teaching. I have to look again…
I am pairing with one of my classmate to be under the Head of the English Department…whoo. He will supervise on our research paper but I couldn’t manage to find the literary works. Oh God help me!!! :(
Thesis Statement...hmmm
Thesis statement…hmmm…it’s not easy to write a good thesis statement and for that reason I have to find a good writer as well as a good literary work. I think I want to choose one text that I’ve learnt before. It will help me in writing the position paper. Thesis statement is the main idea of the essay and must be in a complete sentence. Using questions as thesis statement is not appropriate for the position paper. It also must be equal that means no bias…
My lecturer told us that she will announce the supervisors’ name on the third week. Who will be my supervisor? I don’t know…
Okay, I want to look for the compilation of short stories that I have used in literature lesson before. Where did I put it? Oh…it’s in the box. Gotcha!
The Assignments...
Hello! I’m back for my second blog due to the requirement for this course – EDU 3234 Readings and Project Work for Teaching Literature in ESL Context. That’s why I name my blog as Readings & Project Work…What are these? Let see what I am supposed to do for this semester...
We are required to do two written assignments and 1 journal via internet. So, here I am… The first assignment is the Position Paper – I have to examine one literary work or a writer therefore, I have to come up with a thesis statement before proceed writing the position paper (hmmm…I’ve learnt it before).
The second assignment is to do a small piece of research. Research??? Oh no! Once again, but this time I know that it must be tougher than last short semester. I have to do a research on a writer or any two literary works with similar theme. The most important thing in selecting the either the writer or the literary works is he/she/it must have implications for education/teaching. Sounds interesting right? I also have to be under supervision with assigned lecturer…I wonder who will be my supervisor. I pray that he/she will be the person that I familiar with and know his/her style. Ya Allah, please fulfill my wish…
Keeping a journal via internet is fun because I’ve experienced it last two semesters therefore, I have no problems with it. I have to divide my time table appropriately. What I should do with this blog is to do reflections of any progression in doing both assignments. I hope that I will get the appropriate literary works or the writer. Come on Hani! You can make it! ;p
